Constant force mechanism Caliber V – The movement The fourth movement presented by LANG & HEYNE shows another look than its ancestors. The gracile shape of the trigonal bridge is revealing: six-shanked wheels in 18 carat solid gold, the huge balance with the characteristical L&H design, the fine Moustacheanchor and last but not least the exciting highlight of the Caliber V, the mechanism of the constant force. Its position is the escapement wheel, the last part of the wheel train, and it makes sure that the balance receives bit by bit the same force. This compensates the mainspring’s irregular force-curve and tolerances of the wheel train. The result is a constant amplitude of the balance the whole running time long and an enhanced accuracy. The complicated lever mechanism of the anterograde (forward jumping) date indication is positioned under the dial and invisible to the eyes.
